The
National Museum of Ireland acquired the Eileen Gray collection of furniture
from her apartment in Paris. We completed extensive conservation work on
part of the collection, prior to it being put on display as a permanent
exhibition in the National Museum at Collins Barracks.
Turlough
Park, Castlebar
We completed another flagship project for the National Museum, involving
conservation work on all the furniture and some of the organic artefacts
in the national folklife collection which is now on exhibition at the Museum
of Country Life in Turlough Park, Castlebar.
We completed
conservation work on various items of 18th and 19th century furniture,
for the Limerick Civic Trust. These pieces of furniture are now on display
at Number 2, Pery Square in the centre of Limerick, which is itself a
fine example of Georgian architecture.
Castletown
House is the largest and grandest Palladian country house in Ireland, built
for William Conolly (1662-1729), the Speaker of the Irish House of Commons.
We worked on a collection of furnishings for Castletown House involving
the conservation of Irish mid-18th century furniture, which is now on display
in the house.
At
Conservation|Letterfrack, we have a growing list of private clients and
collectors and we have been privileged to work on a number of rare and fine
objects ranging from some exceptional pieces of 18th century Irish furniture
to more modern 20th century pieces. We appreciate that each object has a
special value in the eyes of its owner and we work with our clients to help
preserve each piece for future generations.
Read
here about some examples of our conservation and restoration work with fine
furniture and objects. Most of our major projects on the historical interiors
of large buildings also include significant work on fine furniture and objects
in these buildings. Check out also our work on the original furniture in
the Cork Courthouse and Sligo
Courthouse.
